This European-inspired design, well-appointed 3 bedroom home on Georgian Bay is the perfect quiet retreat. Guests have full access to the house and property during their stay.
Guest Access:
There is parking for at least 3 vehicles on the sloped driveway. During snowy season, it is strongly recommended that guests park on the road in the cleared area on the west side of the road.
Guests will use self check-in. Access the house using the lock box on the front porch. Two keys are tucked inside the lock box for guest use. Please return both keys at check-out time.
Parking/Road Access:
This is a remote area of the Bruce Peninsula: a vehicle is required. There is no public transportation. If travelling during winter months, snow tires are a must and 4WD is an asset. Although the roads are plowed and maintained by the municipality, many of the smaller dirt/gravel roads have hills and bends. They can be slippery. The driveway to the house is sloped, so it is highly recommended guests park up on the road in winter. This space is suitable for 2 vehicles. The driveway will fit at least 3 vehicles in warmer months.
There is an ice fishing sled guests can use to help cart down personal items from the road to the house during winter months. It is located on/near the tractor, which is parked by the propane tank. Please ensure this is returned upon check-out.
Other Considerations:
There is no cell signal in the house, or really anywhere in the near vicinity. However, there is good WIFI that extends to the outside living spaces. The password will be provided upon booking.
The house is on a septic system. Suitable toilet paper is provided for guests. Please do not flush any other products down the toilet. Reminders of this will be made clear in the welcome booklet upon arrival.
There is no smoking in the house or outside on the property.
Things to Do Outside:
During summer months, soak up the sun swimming in the crystal blue waters of Georgian Bay, lounging on the large, flat shore rocks, or relaxing on a comfy chair out on the deck or down on the lower patio. Water shoes are recommended for navigating the rocks while swimming. Bring your own kayak for paddling along the shoreline. Or enjoy hiking any of the Bruce Trail or side trails in the area. When an outing is desired, or you need supplies, travel 25 minutes south to Lion's Head, or 45 minutes south to Wiarton, or 45 minutes north to Tobermory. Book a trip to the Grotto, or explore all the Peninsula has to offer. You can find local restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, hardware store, and gift shops in each of the little towns named above.
During winter months, enjoy the great outdoors snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or walking along the many trails close by. "Apres hike" and tuck back inside by the warmth of the gas fireplace, or curl up on the large sectional couch for movie time.
Things to Do Inside:
Take in the magnificent views...all while preparing meals and snacks in the gourmet, fully-equipped kitchen! Dig in at the large dining table, or carry your snacks downstairs to watch TV, play board games, or simply enjoy each others' company.
Curl up with a favourite book, or flip through one of the many magazines provided.
Relax in one of the 3 bedrooms and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the water lapping the shoreline. Bed linens and bath towels are provided.
